Christmas film:

Holly, Jolly Christmas - film: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbzAKJiHOGY On 24/11/2020, Paige Goodings, Stephen Allenden and myself took up the offering to work on a Christmas film called Holly, Jolly Christmas.  To begin with, we were given a file between us that contained information about the makeup they had in mind for each of the characters, including a short, detailed list and a moodboard. There was also information about the time they wanted the makeup done by and the time they will begin filming. Later on, the director sent us headshots of each of the actors, their names and which characters they will be playing. In order to plan the makeup looks, Paige, Stephen and I each discussed who will be designing which characters' makeup: Stephen designed the makeup for the staff members and Holly  Paige designed the makeup for the male customers and Noelle I designed the makeup for the female customers and Grace We then created a small moodboard for each of the characters' makeup f...

Terry Barber Instagram challenge evaluation

Terry Barber Instagram challenge evaluation: What I like about this makeup look, is the colours used for the eye makeup as not only do they fit the colours of the object I was using as a reference, but they compliment each other really well. Another aspect of this makeup that I like would be the way that I painted the eyelashes white as it helps to show off the eyeliner more. I also like the pink eyebrows as they fit in with the colour scheme. However, I should’ve made the contour on the nose, cheeks and jaw lighter, as well as adding a slight bit of pink blush to the cheeks to add more colour. edit: 23/02/2021

One colour challenge evaluation

Instagram one colour challenge evaluation: What I like about this look is the way I have coloured the eyebrows. Before applying the blue colour itself, I used colour corrector and concealer to lighten the eyebrows so that the blue will show up better on the hairs. I also like the contour of this look as I think it has been blended out nicely. However, I don’t like the eyeshadow as although I tried to use three different colours of blues on the eyes, they all look like just one colour. Therefore, to improve this look, I would use lighter variants of blue to make sure they stand out better. This also wouldn't work on photograph as the difference in the colour variants aren't bold enough in real life to show up on camera unless the photographs were taken up close. Edit: 26/02/2021

Catwalk makeup evaluation

Catwalk makeup evaluation: What I like about this look is the eye makeup. The blue watercolour smudges help to show off the eye shape alongside the white eyeliner. I also like the eye makeup as the colours compliment each other. Another aspect of this makeup I like would be the shape of the contour on the cheeks as well as how the contour on the nose has been blended. Another point to make about the makeup is that the base makeup and eye makeup would work well for the catwalk as it would stand out on camera as well as under the lighting. However, for the contour on the cheeks, I think the triangles should be bigger to help it stand out more. I also should've used false eyelashes to help them stand out more, and colour them by applying a white base colour first and then colouring them lilac as they don't show up on camera. Editorial makeup evaluation

Editorial makeup evaluation: Original                          Redo What I like about the redo makeup would be the eye makeup. This is because I feel as though, in comparison to the original makeup look, it helps to accentuate the eye shape much more and the two colours compliment each other well. I also like the contour on the redo makeup look as, since this makeup would be viewed up close, it isn't too bold, but it isn’t unnoticeable either.   However, I think the lip makeup from the original makeup would’ve looked much better on the redo makeup as I think the lip makeup in the redo picture is too dark and takes the focus off of the eye makeup. I also should’ve done the same eyebrows from the original makeup in the redo makeup as in the redo picture, they look too short and too light.

Met Gala makeup evaluation

Met Gala makeup evaluation: What I like about this look is the contour. I like the way the contour balances out the rest of the makeup, not making anything else stand out too much in comparison to the other aspects of this look. I also like the lip colour as it complements the eyeshadow well. Another part of this makeup that I like would be the base makeup as the foundation isn’t completely matte, yet it isn’t too shiny either, meaning that when photographed, since flash photography will be used, the base makeup will look even and natural. However, this makeup could be improved by changing the way the colours of the eyeshadow have been blended as I feel as though they are too dark towards the inner corner, rather than focusing on keeping the depth of the eyeshadow more on the outer corner of the eye. Red carpet smokey eye evaluation

Red carpet smokey eye evaluation: What I like about this look is how the eyeshadow is blended to show light colours and darker ones and how it has been blended into the eye socket. I also like the cheek and jaw contour of this look as it isn’t too light, but it isn’t too dark either, therefore, it doesn’t take the attention away from the eye makeup. Another aspect of the makeup I like would be the lip colour as it doesn’t stand out too much, it also compliments the eye makeup, helping to balance it all out. However, I think the nose contour should be slightly darker as in comparison to the cheek and jaw contour, as it looks non-existent. Another part of the makeup that I think could use some improvement would be the eyelashes. This is because, up close, the eyelashes haven’t been applied properly. Another aspect that has room for improvement would be the base makeup as the foundation is too thin and this shows up on camera, especially with the flash on. Edited: 26/02/2021
