Before the meeting began, the room was rearranged for the meeting by forming a circle with the

tables and chairs. This was done as it would then be much easier for us to communicate with

everyone without having to turn around constantly, especially when we were presenting and discussing

ideas.


To start off this meeting, we each went round and presented our moodboards and designs for the

character Audrey Two, including any ideas for changes during the show (three changes) and

collaborated with each other on discussing our likes and dislikes for everyone's ideas. This is important

as it can help us develop our ideas for the character in the future. Once everyone had shown their ideas,

we talked about what our designs all had in common: drag theme (this being accentuated eyebrows,

large, glamorous eye makeup and big, overdrawn lips), and the overall colour scheme (green and red).


Some other ideas for Audrey included:

  • Starting off with a matte lip, adding gloss at the changes.

  • The character's appearance is getting more intense.

  • The makeup doesn’t follow the 90’s theme as it is more of a futuristic / alien-like plant.

  • Changing the eyebrows to show more anger / intense emotion - bold, pointy.

  • False lashes.

We also talked about other aspects of the makeup, such as the style and colours:

  • White / pale face.

  • Vibrant pinks and purples for the contour.

  • Drag style for eye makeup.

  • Overdrawn lips.

  • And to try and add blood into the makeup.

We then went over our designs for the three girls. However, our first moodboards and designs didn’t match up to the 90’s theme we were supposed to create, therefore we decided to create one A2 sized moodboard between us consisting of different styles of hair and makeup that was popular in the 90’s. We worked as a team effectively by delegating each other different subcategories to research and gather images for, such as: 90’s models, actors/actresses, magazine adverts and musical icons. Once the moodboard was completed, we decided to get into groups of three to discuss and each create a design for one of the girls to present at the next meeting.

Catwalk makeup evaluation

  Catwalk makeup evaluation: What I like about this look is the eye makeup. The blue watercolour smudges help to show off the eye shape alongside the white eyeliner. I also like the eye makeup as the colours compliment each other. Another aspect of this makeup I like would be the shape of the contour on the cheeks as well as how the contour on the nose has been blended. Another point to make about the makeup is that the base makeup and eye makeup would work well for the catwalk as it would stand out on camera as well as under the lighting. However, for the contour on the cheeks, I think the triangles should be bigger to help it stand out more. I also should've used false eyelashes to help them stand out more, and colour them by applying a white base colour first and then colouring them lilac as they don't show up on camera. SFX MUA research:

  Michael Mekash: Michael Mekash is mostly well-known for his work on American Horror Story. He has also worked on many other popular films such as: Mad Max: Fury Road, Avengers: Infinity War and Prison Break. Mike started out as an artist and graphic artist who did tattoo work on sets. Not too long after, he began working as a makeup or special effects artist on some of the biggest films and TV shows.  He started his career back when he lived in Seattle, working a day job and a freelance graphic artist in his spare time. He then moved on to taking a job in LA in 2000, drawing tattoos for TV and film, pushing him forward into pursuing a career as an MUA. LSOH meeting 12:

  LSOH meeting 12: 19/05/2021 The day before the production. To start off this meeting, we began by checking through the production folder together to make sure we had everything we needed in there, including face charts, makeup designs, actors headshots and skin consultation sheets. It was important we had all of this in there as it was important we knew what makeup we were doing, how we would be applying it to the actors face and which products we needed to check for and organise. This showed good organisation skills as we were checking beforehand to make sure we had everything ready for the production nights. We then took some time to work in the LRC to polish up our blogs for a little while and add in anything we may have missed; this could include: adding in any missing images and any information on what we had discussed/decided on during previous meetings.
