Little Shop of Horrors - meeting 1:

Little Shop Of Horrors - meeting one: Little Shop Of Horrors is a comedy rock musical and, overall, a love story, but also a warning of what happens if you do anything to get what you want. Seymour, a plant shop worker on Skid Row, discovers an alien-like plant, and finds out that when this plant is fed human blood, things suddenly go right for him. LSOH has a film adaptation that was based off of the musical by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. These are both set in the early 1960’s. However, for the production we will be working on, it was decided that it will be set in the 1990’s instead. To show this, the characters' hair, clothes and makeup will need to be based off of popular trends in the 90’s. To make sure we are able to achieve this, we will all need to conduct some research on this topic to develop our knowledge on 90’s hair, makeup and fashion and produce moodboards, face charts and designs to help with our work on the character makeup designs. These moodboards will consis...

Presentation: peer and self review:

Presentations - peer and self evaluation: Stephen: During the presentation, he had clear speech and made sure to look elsewhere, rather than constantly look at the board. For the slides about the makeup looks, he evaluated them well, including explaining the looks, why he likes them and what needs improving. Stephen also went into a good amount of detail when explaining why he would / wouldn’t work in those industries. He mentioned how he would work in the red carpet / fashion photography industry as he enjoyed creating those makeup looks the most, and would also work on other kinds of makeup on the side (such as theatre looks), but wouldn’t work in the SFX industry due to the amount of CGI and greenscreen technology being used rather than makeup. He also explained the research he did for each MUA well and clearly. Paige: Paige demonstrated clear speech and confidence during her presentation. She also looked elsewhere, rather than constantly at the board. For the slides about the...

Preparation for Specialist Study Report:

Preparation for specialist study report: Whilst I’ve been on this course, I have created two extra makeup looks to help further develop my skills. Both looks were casualty effects: Cut and bruised knuckles and a cut on the face. Both of these were made with Scar Wax to create the cut itself, and the Ben Nye bruise wheel was used to deepen the colour on the injuries and to create the bruise effect on the knuckles.  Another extra piece of makeup I have created was an elf ear to practice for the upcoming Christmas film I was creating makeup for. I also used scar wax to create these and added some foundation to match the colour of my ear. So far, my attendance throughout the year has been 100% and I have always made sure to show up on time, if not earlier, especially when the times were temporarily changed (e.g: 9 am instead of 9:30 am). Even during the online lessons during the lockdown, I managed to join each call on time. Whilst working in the makeup room, I made sure to demo...
